Safe Harbor is delighted to partner with the University of Richmond for their annual White Ribbon Campaign, an effort by men working to end all forms of violence against women. There are several events during the week of November 18-23 designed to engage men on the U of R campus and raise awareness. Safe Harbor is partnering with the University of Richmond for many of these.
In particular, the White Ribbon Run on Friday, November 22 will benefit Safe Harbor! If you are interested in running and aren’t affiliated with U of R, please email Stacie Vecchietti (stacie@safeharborshelter.com) to join “Team Safe Harbor” for the race!
Here are the other events happening on campus that week:
- Monday – Thursday, November 18th – 21st Information Tabling/Pledge Signing (11:00 AM-2:00 PM/ Commons), “Walk the Commons in Her Shoes (11:00 AM-2 PM/Commons): students can sign the white ribbon pledge and walk the Commons for a free t-shirt while supplies last
- Monday, November 18th, ManTalk: “Hooking Up: The Do’s and Don’ts” (7:00 PM/ Wood Hall 1st Floor Lounge): Discussing the “guy code” of hooking up…a code as complex and diverse as men.
- Tuesday, November 19th, Men’s Basketball v. Hofstra (7:00pm/ Robins Center), Richmond College is excited to partner with Spider Athletics and the UR Men’s Basketball to support the White Ribbon Campaign. The team will be wearing special WRC warm-ups and WRC basketballs will be thrown out to fans at breaks.
- Friday , November 22nd, Signed pledge posters will be on display in the Whitehurst Breezeway “WRC Ribbon Run” (3:30 PM/ On-Campus Course), Register today to be a part of the first WRC Ribbon Run (5K/Fun Run) to benefit Safe Harbor.
- Saturday, November 23rd, Football v. William & Mary (3:30pm/ Robins Stadium), Richmond College is excited to partner with Spider Athletics and the Football Team to support the White Ribbon Campaign. The team will be wearing special WRC wristbands and WRC footballs will be thrown out to fans at breaks.
