Here are some easy and unique opportunities that individuals or groups can coordinate. Since all of our services are provided free of charge, donations of items listed below allow us to direct our financial resources to providing programs and essential support to survivors of sexual and domestic violence.
Since we take care of our shelter as if it was our own home, we are always in need of paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning products with bleach. Cleaning wipes are also very handy to have. Items that are required to maintain a home are so helpful in keeping our shelter clean and germ free.
We stock our kitchen with the foods and necessities needed to provide our survivors with healthy food choices. Breakfast items, cereals, juice, soup and basic pantry items are always needed.
GIFT CARD DRIVE
Gift Cards and bus tickets are extremely needed. Often our families arrive at our shelter with few resources or transportation. Bus tickets enable our clients to get to work, while gift cards offer the opportunity to purchase needed items not readily available in our pantry. Cards from the following merchandisers are most useful: Kroger/Martin’s, Wal-Mart/K-Mart/Target, Gas Cards, Dollar Tree, Home Depot/Lowes, Staples/Office Max, CVS/Walgreens (used for prescription medications). GRTC bus tickets can be purchased at Kroger Customer Service.
CELL PHONE DRIVE
Safe Harbor accepts old cell phones with batteries and chargers to distribute to our clients for use in emergency situations. We have also partnered with a wireless recycling program that helps us earn money for each recycled phone or battery. The money earned helps us offset some of the costs related to our programs.
