Wear purple ribbons for DVAM

dvam blog

Why we wear purple ribbons for DVAM:

To start conversations and answer questions about domestic violence.

To shine a light on the prevalence of violence in our community.

To create a safe space for survivors of domestic violence to seek help.

To help children heal from experiencing and witnessing violence at home.

To share with others that they have the power to prevent violence.

To encourage each other to support survivors of domestic violence.

To show our solidarity with all survivors and say, “We believe you.”

To honor those who have lost their lives to domestic violence.

To prevent domestic violence from claiming the lives of those we love.

To empower each other with ways we can help those experiencing violence.

To take a stand against all forms of intimate partner abuse.

To promote healthy relationships for all.

We can’t tackle this issue alone. Help Safe Harbor spread awareness of domestic violence throughout October by sharing purple ribbons with your group, club, coworkers,  or team. Empower your friends and family with facts about domestic violence, as well as ways they can support survivors in their own lives. Call our office (804.249.9470) or email Jordan (jordan@safeharborshelter.com) to receive purple ribbons to share with your group. Tag us if you post a group picture to Facebook to show your solidarity with survivors for #DVAM2015! Or, invite Safe Harbor to speak to your club, team, religious group or workplace about domestic violence and how we can prevent it.

Take a stand this October, help us break the silence and end the violence.
