The #metoo movement started as an earthquake in Hollywood and quickly moved to all aspects of our culture. Women, and men too, now feel empowered to speak out against sexual harassment and abuse. This movement has built a diverse community of survivors and brings the issue of sexual violence out of the darkness and into mainstream conversations. Hopefully we will soon live in a world where everyone can get the help they need to heal from past trauma, and in the not-so-distant future, we will have a society free from all forms of violence and harassment.
Safe Harbor is proud to partner on the #MeToo Monologues with the YWCA Richmond and Firehouse Theatre to present a cooperative evening of truth-telling and support. Participants will share their #MeToo experiences or submit them for recitation by an actor. Stories will be supplemented with brief talks by counselors and activists. We can change the culture; come add your voice to the conversation and support those working to help.
Join us on Sunday, March 18th at 6 pm to experience the #MeToo Monologues at Firehouse Theatre, 1609 West Broad Street. Admission to the event is free but a $10 donation is suggested to support our work.
