Cheryl Hunt, Safe Harbor’s Director of Safe Houses, will be retiring in August 2018 after 10 years of service with the agency. We have started a search for her replacement, details are below.
Director of Safe Houses – Safe Harbor, Richmond, VA
Safe Harbor, located in Richmond, Virginia seeks a dynamic and passionate leader to serve as the Director of Safe Houses. Safe Harbor’s mission is to provide the support that survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking need to overcome their crisis and to transform their lives.
Safe Harbor opened its doors as an emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence in April 2000. Since that time the agency has expanded its mission to include survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking. Services now include emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling, court advocacy and outreach and education. Safe Harbor operates four separate houses. All services are offered free of charge.
The Director of Safe Houses manages the overall operation of the agency’s Safe House Program which includes the SDV Emergency Shelter, the Human Trafficking Shelter, two transitional houses and the twenty-four hour hotline.
The Director manages the team of case managers and client service advocates and ensures delivery of client-centered crisis intervention, safety planning, supportive counseling, and case management. The Director must be able to deliver agency services and initiatives in a culturally sensitive manner specific to the person’s race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression.
The Director also oversees the overall program integrity and daily operations of the Safe Houses Team, provides support to the Executive Director in general agency administration, and serves on the Leadership Team.
